It's hard to believe we've already reached the halfway point of 2026. As we welcome July, many healthcare organizations are taking the opportunity to reflect on the progress they've made, celebrate successes, and identify priorities for the months ahead.
Mid-year provides a natural opportunity to assess revenue cycle performance, review operational processes, evaluate team development needs, and align organizational goals for a successful third quarter and beyond.
Throughout our work with healthcare organizations, we continue to see that proactive planning, continuous improvement, and investment in people remain essential to long-term success.
This month's update highlights industry developments, operational considerations, educational opportunities, and practical insights to help healthcare leaders navigate the remainder of the year with confidence.
🔔 Immediate Action Items for July
Several operational and regulatory updates may require attention as organizations move through the third quarter:
Prior Authorization Reform & Workflow Readiness
CMS and federal lawmakers continue advancing prior authorization reform efforts, with increased focus on electronic workflows, transparency, and reducing administrative burden. Organizations should continue reviewing authorization processes and documentation workflows to support timely patient care and operational efficiency.
Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program is now available for eligible Medicare beneficiaries. Organizations prescribing GLP-1 medications should review program requirements and associated authorization processes to help ensure operational readiness.
Clinical Laboratory Reporting Requirements
Organizations with laboratory services should review applicable Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS) reporting requirements and upcoming deadlines to ensure compliance and evaluate potential reimbursement impacts.
Preparing for ICD-10 Updates
October 2026 ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure code updates are now available. July is an ideal time to begin reviewing upcoming changes and identifying any training, workflow, or documentation needs ahead of implementation.
Addressing these areas proactively can help organizations strengthen operational readiness and support a successful second half of the year.

🔍 Key CMS & Industry Updates to Watch
As organizations move through the second half of 2026, several federal initiatives continue shaping reimbursement, operational requirements, and healthcare delivery across the industry.
Recent activity continues highlighting prior authorization reform, interoperability, Medicaid reimbursement policy changes, evolving telehealth guidance, and the growing role of technology in healthcare operations. These developments reinforce the importance of ongoing operational oversight, workflow evaluation, and strategic planning.
Areas organizations should continue monitoring:
Prior authorization reform and interoperability initiatives
Medicaid funding and reimbursement policy developments
Medicare drug pricing and coverage changes
Evolving interoperability, telehealth, and data-sharing requirements across healthcare
CMS payment integrity and audit readiness initiatives, including the PEPPER relaunch
Organizations that stay informed and adapt proactively are often better positioned to navigate regulatory change and support long-term operational success.
