This program provides detailed instruction in medical coding skills and guides the student from beginner level through advanced level training in proper diagnostic and procedural coding for healthcare providers.

This bundle of 7 courses progresses from entry level introduction to certification level in medical coding. Especially for new coders working in an outpatient setting, this program provides comprehensive training with skill application practice in ICD-10-CM, CPT/EM and HCPCS coding. Enrollment includes unlimited access to 44+ hours of pre-recorded instructional lectures, digital companion materials for all courses, a physical copy of the Certified Medical Coder (CMC)® course manual, remote instructor support, plus a proctored certification examination for up to 12 months.

  An introduction to ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems. Explore the essential coding concepts that directly impact reimbursement for healthcare services provided in an outpatient setting.
• PMI Basics: Introduction to ICD-10-CM Coding
  Basic level instruction in diagnostic coding from the ICD-10-CM code set manual. Coding conventions, general guidelines, and chapter-specific guidelines will be introduced and clarified.
• PMI Basics: Introduction to CPT Coding
  Gain the essentials of procedural coding with a walk through of the AMA CPT-4 code set manual. Identify the main term and select the medical, surgical, and/or diagnostic procedure or service that accurately describes what is supported by the documentation in the medical record.
• PMI Basics: Introduction to E/M Coding
  Learn the steps that tie accurate code selection to proper reimbursement including rules and guidelines for E/M services such as medical necessity and coding by time, and the key components of E/M services.
• Medical Terminology for Coders
  Learn basic anatomy and medical terminology to improve clinical language skills which are needed for proper code selection / abstraction / validation.
• Principles of Coding
  Improve your understanding of the rules with detailed instruction and workbook exercises to quickly improve coding proficiency and accuracy. Get a comprehensive look at the complete reimbursement process for physician services.
• Certified Medical Coder (CMC)®
  This comprehensive course prepares medical coders to pass the Certified Medical Coder (CMC)® certification exam, awarded to individuals who have demonstrated advanced competency in coding outpatient medical claims.
